Berlin Memorial Blog

I learned that the Nazis strategically took rights away from Jews so they would not be suspected by other countries and so they could carry out their plans effectively. I also learned that most of Jew's rights were taken away by the Nazi's. I think this monument was build as an apology to the Jews. Although this is not enough of an apology it is apologizing. I noticed that in certain years there were many laws passed but in some years few were passed. These years often matched up with other significant events. I think the restrictions on where I was allowed to go would be the hardest to deal with. This would be hard because I would not be allowed to do anything other than sit at my house and shop for food in the restricted times.

  1. In recent news some people say that the Nazis and ISIS are similar. When reading your blog I quickly found a huge difference in which the racist group tried hard to hide their harmful actions. I never thought that the memorial would act sort of like an apology to the Jews. I think you did a great job analyzing the memorial and its purpose. Great Blog Post.

  2. I never thought of the monument being a way to apologize to the Jews. I thought it was a way to have people remember the tragic events. I didn’t think about not being able to go places would be hard for me. I usually stay inside, but I feel if I wasn’t allowed to go somewhere, it would make me want to go even more. What place would be the hardest for you to same away from? Overall, great blog.
