Continued from last post.

The girl Emrys had met was named Rhia. She and her friend, a treeling, half tree, half human, told him about the blight, which was destroying all the trees. The only thing that was protecting her part of the forest was the River Unbreaking. She tells him about the alleah bird. It is a beautiful bird that lives in the Druma (her forest). Soon after she tells him about this bird they see a flash of colors. Rhia knows that it was a alleah bird and they start chasing it.When they get it the Merlin that has been following Emrys around starts attacking the bird. He actually saved them because the bird was really a shifting wraith. Shifting wraiths work for the evil king Rhita Gawr who is possessing their current king, Stagmar. Stagmar hunted down all the Giants who lived in Fincayra. The shifting wraiths are bad because they can change into any shape they want. The always have a flaw that gives them away such as only having one leg or webbed hands.

After she sees the shifting wraith in the Druma Rhia is sure that it is in trouble. She decides to go to try to protect it. At first Emrys refuses to help but then a stag that looks terrified runs past him and he changes his mind. Rhia says that they are going to the Grand Elusa. Emrys is scared because Rhia tells him that she heard an old legend that the Grand Elusa is always hungry and sometimes eats her visitors. On the way to her lair they spot a beehive in an old log. While they are eating they find a little man in the mud next to the hive. He claims to be a giant but he is shorter then a boy and is called Shim. They tell him he should wash off the honey and mud before the bees get back. He shrieked ran around a rock then shrieked louder. They ran to see what happened and fell into a hole landing next to Shim. That is the lair of the Grand Elusa, who looks like a spider, and she tells them the prophecy, "Where in the darkness a castle doth spin, Small will be large, ends will begin. Only when giants make dance in the hall, Shall every barrier crumble and fall." Then they leave her lair.

When they leave the Grand Elusa's lair Rhia's treeling friend walks up to them. She apologizes for following them.  Then six warrior goblins come out of the forest and ask her which one has the magical Galator.  She points to Emrys and the Galator hanging around his neck that his mother Branwen gave him. They then hurt her and she runs off into the forest. They try to capture Emrys but a old tree Rhia had befriended knocked herself over onto the one of the goblins. Then the Grand Elusa came out of her lair and attacked the goblins. Two escaped and followed Emrys, Rhia and Shim to the river. They jumped in and Rhia begged the river to help them. It pushed them down the river and away from the goblins. Then Emrys and Rhia get into a fight and Emrys starts walking into the forest. He then meets the two goblins that escaped from the Grand Elusa. That is when the bird that has been following Emrys around comes out and attacks the goblins. They knocked him out of the sky after a few seconds then knocked Emrys out. When Emrys woke up Shim was sitting next to him, obviously upset. When Emrys asked what happened he said that Rhia had switched places with him to save him. He was determined to save her.
(This does not go all the way to the end of the book even though I finished the book.)
