Spoiler Alert
don’t know yet how it fits the story, what is your best
guess?
Pages: 0-393 (end)The title of the book is Son. I think it fits the story well because most of the story is Claire trying to find her son. At the beginning she has a son but he is taken from her and she never sees him. She then finds out his number and uses it to find him. She thinks "I must put Thirty-six out of my mind." This tells me that Claire really cares about her child. I later found out that this is because she does not take the pills.
In the second section she is stuck with no memories. She slowly starts to remember small parts of her life. She then has to strengthen to escape and find her son. She goes through lots of hard experiences to find her son. She works for months to prepare to climb the cliff and escape the town. She does all of this to find her son.
In section three she has found her son but cannot make herself talk to her because a curse was put on her to make her very old. She finds Jonas and together they make her son believe her. At the very end her son destroys the evil that has been destroying the town and makes Claire young again. I think that Son is a appropriate title because Claire's son creates the plot and he solves it.

ReplyDeleteI really admire how you had summarized the main parts of all three books because in my opinion it would be tough. It would be tough because there is just so much going on it's hard to tell what it is truly about. I agree with you on how the title does fit the story because that's basically what this book is about. It's about Claire and her son. After reading this, did it answer some of your questions about "The Giver"?
ReplyDeletePeople who have read "Son" told me what it was about. I think that you described the story in great detail. The title really does fit the story and I agree with your reasoning. Is "Son" helping you learn more about "The Giver"?
ReplyDeleteIn our Socratic Seminar circle the people who have read Son mention that the character Claire is a birthmother. Does Claire's quest to find her son have anything to do with Gabe and Jonas? If so how? I liked how you used the literary concept of them to write your blog. It's good that used the them of memories in your blog. Great Blog Post!
ReplyDeleteReally good summary. I wanted to know what the book was about. I don't think im gonna read it though. I wanted to see what happened to the community, Jonas, and Gabriel.
ReplyDeleteSteven,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog this week! I really enjoyed how you explained how the title fit the story, and gave us a bit of a summary to help explain! I also like how you split up what you talked about into the three sections, it made it easier to know what you were talking about. Though, next time, you might want to explain things a bit more because sometimes people forget what certain parts of the book are, or they don't know what it means and it leaves them hanging! Overall, great blog this week, and I look forward to reading more of your blogs in the future.
